Each saucer made with the fine fusion Murano glass processing technique is a testimony to Venetian glass art. This extraordinary piece requires a series of laborious steps to reach its perfection:
1. Design: Each saucer begins with a careful design, which determines the overall shape and design.
2. Composition of the Murrine: The murrine, small decorative glass cylinders, are carefully selected and placed one by one by hand with pliers, following the original design. This phase requires great skill and patience.
3. Melting: The saucer is placed in an oven to soften the components so that they blend. This delicate process joins the murrine without compromising their design.
4. Roughing: After casting, the product is subjected to a roughing phase to remove any surface irregularities.
5. Hot Fold: The saucer is placed back into the oven to be hot folded, thus obtaining the desired shape, in this case, the octagonal one.
6. Finishing: The last step includes grinding and polishing to make the surface of the saucer flawless and shiny.
This artisanal process requires time and dedication, with production lasting from 4 days and up, depending on the complexity of the piece. The daily production of approximately 30-60 pieces highlights the level of skill and mastery of Murano glassmakers, who create glass works of art of extraordinary beauty and quality.
The square saucer measures 7.5cm/2.95inch
The octagonal saucer measures 8cm/3.14inch diagonally
The oval saucer has a length of almost 10cm/3.93inch and a width of 7cm/2.75inch
